Qigong can cultivate vital energy in our body to improve our mental and physical health. It helps us be with our body and stay grounded no matter what is happening around us. We offer one-on-one virtual Qigong lessons to get you started with a daily home practice.
Originated from Asia, Qigong is the cultivation of life force. In addition to supporting general health and wellbeing, qigong practice is also the foundation of all of the martial arts. There are thousands of different qigong practices, associated with hundreds of existing schools/lineages of Taoist practice. Some qigong forms focus on external physical movement, as Taichi is. Others are primarily internal, which use mindful intent, visualization and breathing techniques to guide the flow of Qi.
Qigong is the art of moving the life-source energy (Qi) throughout the body, so that every cell, tissue and organ can be nurtured and can perform their normal function. We can guide the flow of qi with our intention, as well as our movements. While people in the western world are much more familiar with movement Qigong (Taichi being one of them), most schools of Qigong in Asia actually include both forms. We call it internal forms (breath-based) and external forms (movement-based). Breath Qigong is a very direct and effective way of guiding the Qi flow in our body. It is very powerful. But because the practice is completely internal, it is also important that it is learned with an instructor who can observe closely and make adjustment if necessary. This is why we offer one-on-one instruction for this Qigong practice.
